Welcome to Aesco Madsen’s Team, a group of highly dedicated, trained and experienced professionals who are here to provide an unparalleled customer experience.
John Ferris is the President and Founder of Asphalt Equipment & Service Company (AESCO). His beginnings, over 40 years ago, came from working for the Shearer Process Company, and most significantly, closely with its owner Tim Shearer (the inventor and owner of the patents for the original Drum Mix Process). In addition, John worked as the Service Manager for Boeing Construction Equipment Company (BCEC) after Boeing purchased the Patent Rights to the Shearer Process in the 1970’s. He eventually founded Asphalt Equipment & Service Company in 1980. To enhance his offerings to the Asphalt Industry, John purchased the Madsen Asphalt Batch Plant Product Line from Eagle Crusher in 1997 and combined the two companies to form AESCO/Madsen. His vision has always been consistent since his founding days, which is to provide the Asphalt Industry with superb products, state-of-the-art technical support, and excellent customer service.
Kevin Kirby has been with Aesco Madsen since 1993 and is currently the Chief Engineering Design Manager responsible for all Asphalt Plant equipment design and fabrication. Prior to Aesco Madsen, Kevin worked for Kenworth Truck Company where he designed heavy haul tractor cabs and rear chassis, including axle and drive assemblies. From there he was with Paccar Military Division, designing various systems for tanks, trucks, trailers and bridges. Finally, Kevin ended up with BMG Corporation (an offshoot of Boeing Construction Equipment), where he designed all types of asphalt plant systems and equipment. Kevin has been involved in the evolution of Aesco Madsen’s complete Asphalt Plant Product lines, including the transition from Parallel Flow Plants to current state-of-the-art Counter Flow Plants, along with all the peripheral equipment that goes with them. His contribution to Aesco Madsen in these areas is unequaled.
Steve Malloy is currently the National/ International Sales Manager for Aesco Madsen. From the early days of the parallel flow asphalt plants to the counter flow drum mix plants of today, Steve has been an integral part of company sales and product development for over 30 years. Prior to coming to Asphalt Equipment and Service Company in 1985, Steve worked for Cedar-Rapids Iowa for 5 years as a Regional Sales/ Engineering Representative traveling extensively throughout the United States and Canada for its asphalt plant and crushing lines. As a graduate of Iowa State University in Civil Engineering, Steve’s education and experience has been a perfect fit. When he is not working, you can find him on the golf course, snow skiing or hiking. As an added point of interest, Steve spends a good deal of his spare time as a high school golf coach.
